THE VENUS PROJECT

Form and Pose of classical Aphrodite-and Venus depictions are found in the capitalistic West of the 20th and 21st century - in form of the Mannequin.
Banned from Olymp to the Temples of Consumption, is Venus serving as the Goddess of the Consumer, or did she herself convert to commodity?
Doomed to uniform, soulless sameness, endlessly reproduced, did Venus transform into a symbol of a system that prefers humans to be deindividualized puppets, selflessly serving the greater good?

Or is Venus entirely deprived of her divinity, reduced to her physicality, a representation of The Idealized Woman -

but who idealizes her, and to what consequence?

How does a woman identify and idealize herself in the 21st century?
What projections are reflected upon Venus, upon a woman, by herself and society?
